Ēhē

1.(noun) a negative answer; no (Tūhoe dialect)

What has the world come to. A global pandemic, the world on lock down, panic buying for security, BLM riots echoing through our streets and now Tāme Iti wants to offer you an iwi for sale.

Ēhē. What is this Tūhoe thinking?

Amidst the noise of the existing world order crashing down and in the face of an uncertain future, Tāme Iti presents Ēhē – an online exhibition of 324 artworks painted onto paper shopping bags, loaded with the baggage of our times.

Ēhē explores whakapapa, capitalist consumerism, and our perception of value as a society. What is “essential” in these times?

Maybe it’s a whānau you need after all…
